What is Growth Vertical?

rowth Vertical is a merger of two everyday words in the personal development and business areas: growth and vertical.
The idea for the name came from a feeling of wanting to ensure I fulfill the desire to reach my goals, ultimately meaning I will reach new heights as a human being.
To level up, climb to new heights, or simply reach the top means you have to grow as a person, learn and scale your efforts by finding new methods or routes to get to specific points in your journey.
This will be the first post on Growth Vertical’s website. It’s an odd time for me to publish this post, but that’s what makes it all the more interesting. Perhaps with the aim of publishing this first post, I’m hoping others do the same by stepping outside their comfort zones to reach the next vertical point in their journey and by finding ways to use digital growth hack themselves, their careers or their businesses.

Welcome to Growth Vertical, the place where businesses and people can come to learn new growth strategies in the areas of digital marketing and personal growth.
My name is Neil Patel. I know what you’re thinking…wait Neil Patel? Do you mean the bald awesome digital marketing guru and founder of businesses such as CrazyEgg, and KissMetrics? Unfortunately, no I’m not that Neil Patel, but I am a Neil Patel – striving to become the best marketer and leave behind a legacy in my own way.
I’ve been on a very different journey for sure however it’s been an eventful one so far and a great learning experience, bringing me to this right here: starting Growth Vertical. Right now I’ve managed to accumulate and build on experiences to progress further in reaching my vertical goal, and with the challenges that faced me I know there may be others out there who long to progress in their journeys but just need a helping hand in doing so.
This is where I come in, I want to help those people by using my skillset and experiences. Whether the aim is to achieve new heights of personal growth or accelerate the growth of businesses, I’d like to be there support and share stories with those who want to discover the right tactics to get there but have hit a minor blockade like not knowing where to start or just needing a second opinion.
Make a start even in the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation
As I sit here in the dark, in my bed listening to an instrumental and writing this first piece for Growth Vertical I can’t help but mention what is going on with the current climate across the entire globe. It’s an incredibly unfortunate and unprecedented set of events we’re experiencing.
The Coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19 has progressed to cause a pandemic and the UK (where I am) is still in lockdown with restrictive rules put in place to try and control the rate of infections. For such a long time I’ve found other things to take care of and put off writing this post, but now…I think it’s time to buck up and write it.
I just decided this was it: I’m going to punch today in the face! I think everyone should use their burning desire to do something…anything to take action!
A lot of businesses out there are unsure as to how they can sustain high growth rates with current offline communication channels cut off. Since everyone is forced to work from home how do businesses find ways to grow consistently in the current climate and improve their top line figures to ultimately improve their bottom line?
Now…after taking a leap of faith my journey has brought me here, to this very moment in addressing why I started Growth Vertical. I decided to write this first post as an introduction to Growth Vertical and what I am to do, perhaps this will be through some articles, videos, and maybe even a podcast. Who knows!
The plan is to provide value continuously so that everyone out there with any doubts, fears and questions towards digital marketing and personal development can find the answers and solutions they need to grow themselves and their businesses.
I know this much, from all the experiences I’ve had I always love a challenge and love to get involved in projects that bring something new to the table. Why? Because I feel an urge to help solve a problem for someone in any way I can, and with the best approach possible. It gives me my sense of fulfillment as I’m passing on what I’ve learned through testing and implementation when trying to generate results.
Is digital now the only way to grow a business?
There are plenty of naysayers when debating a move towards using a digital means of marketing or just generally developing themselves online, but it now seems like technology has paved the only convenient and consistent way to attain growth from both self-development and business perspective.
With the many online strategies and tactics supported by thousands of tools on the market, there are only so many ways to break through the noise and take advantage of the current climate we are in.
The time to take action is now! If I can write this post then you can definitely go ahead and at least Google one question you have on how to start something you’ve been meaning to.
Who knows, you may even search ‘how to market my business effectively?’ and find one of my posts on it in the near future. I just hope it helps you find the answers you’re looking for.
People are currently being forced to adopt an online means to continue running themselves and their businesses. Marketing questions I’ve found people asking right now are:
– If I’m just starting out with marketing my business online then where do I begin?
– What if I want to go digital but I don’t know about any of the technologies, which are the best ones I need if I’m starting out?
– Are there specific marketing strategies and tactics for my type of business or goal?
– What’s the best route to achieve high growth through a digital means if my competitors are already established online?
These are just a few and believe me there are many more.
You’re not the only one asking these questions I’ll tell you that. The bank of questions surrounding whether a person should go digital or not have been overflowing for quite some time.
Digital marketing is showing how it can be a powerful tool for business both in and out of the current climate. Right now it has the ability to help millions of people reach one another in the broadest and specific sense. The catch? There is no catch, there is just a decision, your decision – either try and succeed or continue to fear and be left behind.
Let me give you a quick example of a powerful tool right now. Tik Tok is a video-social sharing app that has exploded over the last year and is rolling big right now. A lot of people are trying to understand the platform, are learning how it could be of use to their businesses, or are just testing their craft to have fun on the platform.
You’re not alone in only just starting out and feeling hesitant, in fact, one of the reasons why Growth Vertical was started was to help fill this void and to provide assistance. Just like I took the chance to write this first piece and finally publicly offer my expertise and helping hand online, you need to sit down and identify your own or your business’ main problems you want to solve and take action!
- Does the channel reach my intended audience?
- Is the channel sustainable and affordable within my company’s marketing budget?
- Will I be able to measure the success of the channel?
- Does the channel allow me to express my brand’s intended message?
- Do the channels I’m considering work together to convey my message?
How to solve the problems you've identified?
To solve any problem you need to write it down clearly. If you haven’t already written down the problem then do me a favour and go write it down on a piece of paper right now. This is a simple suggestion but a practical one as it removes the stressful thoughts from the brain and will free up room for more ideas to be generated. Subconsciously you’ll be trying to figure out how to solve it and you’ll get that light-bulb moment to help you discover THE idea that rectifies that problem.
What’s next you ask? Ask for help!
Successful people around the world were helped in one way or another on their journies to achieving high growth, it’s a part of the learning process so don’t shy away from it.
Sure you can Google things and carry out your own research but at one point during the research phase, it’s likely you’ll come across more than one solution. These multiple solutions will prompt you to ask:
– Which solution is better?
– Are there any results for each of the solutions to understand which is better?
– How can I implement both and how much is this going to cost me?
– Where do I start with implementing these solutions and how long will it take?
These are just some of the questions you could find yourself asking after just your research.

The quote above speaks for itself and believe me when I say that I’d be a liar in saying I haven’t asked for help in my journey up until this point of my life. I still ask for help! If I’m learning then I’m growing as a person meaning my chances of succeeding are higher!
